“I’ve been exploring the Great Bear Rainforest for nearly a decade, and still, when we push that boat off the dock, we never know what lies ahead. Every day can bring something different. Wolves are a treat. They are so elusive and much prefer not to be seen. So when we encountered this black wolf paddling a few kilometer away from land, I was a little more than pleasantly surprised. A most vulnerable position to be in. There was no way that we were going to try and get close for a photo. The wolf could panic, or turn back and run out of steam. We kept our distance and I snapped only two frames. Then we watched as the wolf reached land, shook off, and disappeared into the forest.”
